The small agency with a big heart

For more than 68 years HWA has been a small agency with a big heart. What started as a small pro bono project for the
Boy Scouts of America has grown into a community engagement effort that today results in one out of every 10 hours of agency time being donated to local non-profits.

Every associate for seven decades has tirelessly given their time, talent and wealth to improve the quality of lives of the people of the Quad Cities. HWA areas of service and philanthropy include health and welfare, economic literacy, helping children-at-risk, the arts and economic development.

HWA has served in leadership positions in the local
United Way which helps one out of every three families seek much needed comfort and help. We have also assisted Project Now, Aids Project Quad Cities, and Christian Care by designing annual reports, flyers and posters.

HWA was part of the leadership group that founded the
Greater Quad City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce that helps create job and business opportunities for local Hispanic businesses.

For years, HWA has been a leader in the
Genesis Hospital Foundation local fund raising efforts which has resulted in a new neo-natal care unit and hundreds of nursing scholarships being awarded.

Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley serves more than 2500 kids annually. HWA has been part of the organization for 12 years.

Economic literacy has been central to HWA’s volunteer efforts through
Junior Achievement. HWA has taught in the classrooms for years. Associates have served in critical leadership roles on the local Board. Just this year, JA served its 1,000,000 student. Additionally, the golf tournament founded by an HWA associate has now raised more than $1 million to fun JA programs.

Associates have served on the Boards of local
Chambers of Commerce promoting job creation and economic development.

HWA also has a history of supporting the arts -- working with the
Quad City Symphony, Friends of Vander Veer, Venus Envy Quad Cities–a festival celebrating women in the arts, and Quad City Flutes Unlimited.

HWA has been recognized for its community involvement by the local advertising federation, Professional Fund Raisers Association, and by the agencies themselves that are the beneficiaries of the unselfish efforts of the small agency with a big heart.
